A Gift for the Naughty

Hi there!

This week at A Jillian Vance Design we are spotlighting the Merry Moo-lah Stamp Set. I had a kind of different idea for this using the Zipper {die}vice and the {die}signer Pocket Die.

I used the Cricut Joys of the Season cartridge to cut the gift box image. I cut an extra shadow layer to add to the base. I ran the main present layer through my Cuttlebug with the Zipper {die}vice. I then layered the bow and manually trimmed through the top to loosen the tab.

When you unzip the card, inside is a gift card pocket.

My Best Project...

And also the longest!

Introducing Nicholas, born September 18th, 8 lbs, 20" long.

So when my blog gets really quiet, this is probably why:

I thought I could edit pictures and write up a grocery list while he napped. Yeah, I was about 5 minutes behind him into sleepy-land!

Age Is Just a Number

Hello!

This week at A Jillian Vance Design we are spotlighting the Over the Hill stamp set.

I made a tri-fold card with my eClips using basic shapes in the ECAL software. I laid out my base at 3.75" and then welded some circles, ovals, and squares to make the sides of the card. The clouds and sun are also stock shapes that come with the program.

Inside the card I used a sentiment from the Basically Birthdays stamp set.

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble....

Hi there!

So today I spent my last day of freedom working on this project for SVG Cuts Halloween Challenge. What do I mean by last day of freedom? I'm pregnant and being induced tomorrow so this is truly my last day of uninterrupted crafted for a very LONG time! But that's just fine with me!

For this contest I used four of the approved kits: Elmhurst Hollow for the haunted house and fences, Gothic Flourishes for the Headless Horseman and the tombstone, Hazel's Wicked Witch Crafts for the adorable witches and the trees, and Party on Elm Street for the 3-D Cauldron.

How about some more pics?

I cut the trees three time, twine out of black, ones out of the dark, shimmery green. I layered the green offset from the black to give it some dimension and the added the other black layer to the back to give it some added strength.

How much fun is this? I love the angry witches, they're so cute!

Autumn Greetings

Happy Thursday!

This week at A Jillian Vance Design we are making projects using the new Charming Holidays Stamp Set. I decided to make a fun treat you could make for a friend or neighbor.

For the container I used the Bushel Basket from SVG Cuts Caramel Apple Pie kit. This is super fast to put together. I used Jillian's {die}lightfully Charming Circle Die for the tag and tied it to the top of my bag with some Cappucino baker's twine from The Twinery.

I stamped the little leaf from my tag around the basket and colored the leaves with Copics. I used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher on the bands of the basket as an extra design element.

And doesn't that popcorn look good? That is Mother Goose Popcorn - my Mom used to make this for us when I was a kid for school treats and I thought it would be perfect to fill my basket. The recipe is below...

Mother Goose Popcorn:

2 C sugar
1 C water
3 Tbsp. Butter
1 Tsp. Vanilla
Red food coloring
Dash of Salt

6 Quarts Popcorn (3/4 cup unpopped), unpopped kernals removed

Cook sugar, water and butter until 230 (soft ball) on candy thermometer. Add coloring and vanilla. Pour over 6 quarts popcorn and stir to coat. Spread on wax paper or parchment until cool and set. Break up and enjoy!

I colored mine orange to go with my fall theme. My Mom used to make it green for St. Patrick's Day, so you can use your imagination and make it whatever color you want!

Halloween Treats

Happy Thursday!

This week at A Jillian Vance Design we are playing with the new Funny Fall Faces Stamp Set. This is a really fun set because there are so many options!

I decided to make some little treat bags. I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge and some acetate sheets. If you've never worked with these before they can be really fun. I bought mine at Office Depot. I think making the bags clear makes these a little more fun.

I cut around my stamped images and sentiments and attached them to the bags using pop dots. I finished the bags off with some Halloween baker's twine from Divine Twine.

And I hadn't embossed anything for a couple of weeks so.... I couldn't resist! Especially when I found orange embossing powder in my drawer! Stamped the image with embossing ink and the used a tiny spoon to sprinkle the powder where I wanted it. To emboss the sentiment I sprinkled some of the mixed colors on the stamped area.
