My next project

So you probably think I've been pretty quiet the last few days. I'm still getting used to having a blog, but there is actually a very good  reason for being quiet. I'm in the middle of a new project using some of the papers that I discovered many, many sets of when cleaning up my craft room a couple of weeks ago.

Here is a sneak peek....

Butterfly Themed Badge Holder Mini Album

This is my second badge holder mini album. I said before I was making these for a swap on the Cricut message board. I thought I was supposed to be making all three "theme" my partner listed.

Nope. Apparently I am an over achiever...

Since I was almost finished with this one when I figured this out I went ahead and finished it.

Paper: Bo Bunny Gabrielle
Ink: CTMH, TH Distess
Stickles: Eucalyptus, Platinum, Diamond
Cricut: Home Accents, Indie Art

Butterfly cut from Indie Arts at 1" and 1.5"
Butterfly from Home Accents cut at 2"

Disaster Averted (For now)

So cleaning it all up wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I sorted paper, labeled some stuff (I
♥ labels, I'm nerdy that way), and did some rearranging. And viola! We have an organized (for now) craft room!

But first....as I clean the other cat hovers. His name is Scooter, and he likes to sit on the extra chair in the closet and stare at me. You know why? Because Scooter is awesome!

Anyway, here is the final product. And yes, I realize I have about a million Cricut cartridges.

What can I say? I'm obsessed.

Shelf #1 of cartridges - mostly font and Cricut Lite.

Shelf #2 - Disney and shape carts with all the Imagine ones down below.
Shelf #3 - More shape carts, alphabetized (Nerdy side again) and my totally full paper rack

My "other" stash or alter-able items in the closet - you know, where the cat likes to sit? :-)

It's a disaster again....

I know most of you do the same thing. You start working on a project and the paper flies, the scrap piles grow, little pieces of things flutter to the floor, gitter covers every surface. And then the end comes and you look around yourself and survey the mess and wonder how you missed seeing the tornado that destroyed your scrap room.

(Notice the chunky black and white thing in the lower left corner.....yeah, she loves the craft room. The messier it is, the happier she is. She thinks then I can't find her when she hides in there if it's messy. BTW, her name is Gidget, but we like to call her Princess Moo-Moo)
Yeah, that's the point I'm at right now. Magnified by the fact the Michael's had Jetmax cubes 50% off. So I have four new ones to find a home for while I clean up. Hmmmm......

Football Themed Badge Holder Mini Album

This is my football themed mini album for a swap on the Cricut message board. This is the first of three different themed albums I'll be making (Hopefully all this weekend).

I was completely out of my comfort zone with this one. I am not a football fan so I had a hard time wrapping my head around this one. I ended up taking the easy way out and used some Jolee's stickers and sports themed paper pack from We R Memory Keepers.

It is actually really cute paper. I'm not normally a sticker person but this set from Jolee's was perfect.

This element is all me. Using twill ribbon from Close to My Heart and a little $1 alphabet stamp set I found at Michael's I stamped on the ribbon with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Red Brick and Broken China. One ribbon says GO TEAM and the other says RAH RAH RAH.
The rest is just the various pages in the album. It's small, only 5 pages, but perfect for a mini album.

Notice how there are little "elements" on the edges of the pages? Yeah, the badge holders I bought at Staples.....all have "Staples" embossed on one side. Lovely......so we have strategically placed stickers to cover it up.

"Hey Ma! Look at me!"

I am so excited! My Father's Day card was one of the "Message Board Highlights" this week in the Cricut Chirp newsletter. I am the second link for "Father's Day Pop-Up Card". I can't believe one of my projects was chosen.

Also, a big "Hello" to my new followers who have found me as a result of the newsletter. It is very much appreciated!

Now, off to my craft room to come up with something new....

Dead weekend.....

So I got ZERO crafting done this weekend. I had good intentions. I was going to work on my badge-holder mini album swap. I was going to do something awesome with some new Graphic 45 paper and their Kraft Envelope Album. I think this is the first time I've bought and Graphic 45 paper and I was blown away by the graphics and detail. I can't wait to use this stuff....and I totally wish I'd bought more.

You may ask what I did this weekend? Well....I'm went to a friend's house for our monthly girl's night. We have snacks and wine and either play games or just sit around and talk. Um, yeah, wine...I don't think I'll be touching the stuff for a good long time. There were six of us there Saturday night. We went through 5 normal sized bottles of wine and 3 JUMBO sized bottles. Needless to say that is way too much wine and I spent all day Sunday in bed nursing my hangover.

Maybe I'll get something done tonight.....

Father's Day Card

This card was featured in the June 15th issue of the Cricut Chirp!!!

Hello!

This is my card for my Dad for Father's Day. This was made using Nifty Fifties. Paper is from the DCWV Mod Retro paper stack for all the patterns. I added some Glossy Accents to the "lights" on the sign. The film strip is Tim Holtz. I went over the bumper part of the car with a Krylon silver leaf pen to give it the chrome look.

Inside I wanted to continue the drive-in theme. I took the car front from Nifty Fifties and reversed it so the steering wheel would be on the right side as if you were looking at the car from behind. Instead of headlights I used red gems for tailights. I used the silver leaf pen again on the "chrome" parts.

The drive-in screen was what I had a hard time with. Then I ran across this graphic from Kate's Kitchen for the Imagine. It looked to my like something from one of the old theater ads with all the dancing treats telling people to "go to the lobby and have yourself a snack". I pop dotted the ice cream treats over a printed background image.

The card is also a pop-up. This is the first card like this I have done-it was fun. The pictures don't do it justice, it really give the card some depth.

And please let me apologize for the quality of these pics! I'm still learning Photo Shop......and I really need a new camera.....AND I'm still getting the hang of this whole blog thing!

Thanks for stopping by!

Max's First Birthday Card

I made this card for my nephew Max's 1st birthday. This is a side step card. I found the directions on how to cut and fold this card here. I modified this slightly by making the card 6" instead of 5 1/2".  All animals were cut right around 1" (I do have cut file for this if anyone wants specifics). The waves were embossed and then accented with stickles. I free-hand cut the party hats. The balls on top of the hats were glimmer misted to give them color. The sand effect was done with an embossing powder that when heated looks like sand.

I also used my new E2 for this. I can't believe how much better it cuts. It does better with small work and detail than the original E. And I love the new cutting light.

Max's Letters

I made this for my darling nephew's bedroom. My sister has a jungle theme going so this fit right in. The letters are 8" stacked chipboard letters from Hobby Lobby. I painted them brown and then covered the back with brown cardstock and the front with a cute pattern paper I found at Michaels. The animals are are from Create a Critter-probably one of the BEST carts Cricut has.

And yes, it does say "Danger" on the leaves along the bottom.....because my nephew's given, legal name is Max Danger. Danger is literally his middle name. It started as a joke when my sister was pregnant. When he was born they still hadn't picked out a name. My sister told the doctor about Max Danger and the doctor looked at him and said "You know, he kind of looks like a Max". Any you know what-she couldn't have come up with a better name.

Supplies:

Chipboard Letters - Hobby Lobby
Patterned Paper - Recollections
Solid Cardstock - Bazzill
Cricut Cartridges - Life Is A Beach, Create a Critter, Mickey Font
Xyron Create A Sticker
Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Vintage Photo

Congrats Card

This was for a friend of mine that got a well-deserved promotion. I love Three Birds!
