CCI Design Team Week 6 - Beach Decor

What could be better than a Friday? A Friday on short week or course!

For those of you that saw my post over the weekend you know that my Gypsy died. I did manage to resurrect it but had to relink all my cartridges. Not fun. And although I had backed up all my project file most of them won't reload. I still haven't had time to call Provo Craft for help.

But on to my project for Creative Critterz Imaginations this week!

Our theme this week was home decor so I made a little beach themed wall hanging.

Here are the supplies for the project:

Yes. That is Mod Podge. Which you "can't" use with images printed on the Imagine. To that I say "HA!" but more on that in a minute.

I laid out the project on my now restored Gypsy.

I took an 8"x8" board from the dollar store and painted it blue. I then dry brushed it with white accents.

I adhered all the layers of my project.

And added the little sentiment. It's actually from the chorus of "Knee Deep" by the Zac Brown Band. I love this song and was listening to it in the car the other morning when I came up with the design for this project. I decided to include part of the song in the project. I used Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type for the lettering.

Then the experimenting began.

So, they say you can't use Mod Podge on Imagine images. This is because when these are printed it's not exactly the same as using cardstock you bought at your local scrap store. Basically the ink will come off once it gets wet with the Mod Podge. I decided to try it anyway.

It can be done....but it does take a little finess. Make sure all your elements are completely glued down. Very quickly brush a light coating of Mod Podge over the entire project. Now - let it dry completely. DON'T touch it until it's dry. Why? That's when the ink separates from the paper (and sticks to your fingers...) and you end up with a spot like the one on my chair.

Overall, not too bad for an experiment!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Supplies:
White AC cardstock
Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Frayed Burlap
Mod Podge

Cute project and thanks for the mod podge tip. I had to reset my gypsy to factory settings after it wouldn't complete a sync. What a pain to have to reload ALL my cartridges and projects.
