Haunted Birdhouse and more....

In case you can't tell....I love Halloween!

I finally finished my last few items for the vintage Halloween box swap over on the Cricut message board.

First up....a little coffin and some goodies inside.

This is a small, wood coffin from Michaels. I painted it black then dry brushed it with red. I lined the inside with dark red suede paper from Joann's.

Using Mod Podge, I painted some ragged glue lines and adhered Martha Stewart micro beads to add some texture.

I added a skull and spider as accents to the top.

The letters are chipboard that I distressed then inked with Tim Holtz Red Brick Distress Ink. Because of the way the letters were sanded down the ink went on darker on the deeply distressed areas and gave the letters a kind of "zombie flesh" look. It was totally a surprise to me and I LOVE how it turned out.

Inside I have a collection of goodies. First up - some flowers made using Tim Holtz Craft Glassine paper. Details on how I made these here.

Some more stickpins in a little matchbook....

And another chunky charm. (This picture did not want to come out so the color is really off but it uses the same bead color scheme as the stick pins)

And finally....my haunted birdhouse!

I've been stuck on how to finish this off for DAYS! This is just a simple paper mache birdhouse from Hobby Lobby. I covered it with paper from Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland. I added a small fence cut from Mini Monsters.

I love this little bird! I went back to Michaels today to buy some more of them and they're all gone. Probably because they're so stinkin' cute!

I used my Cricut to cut a bunch of 3/4" circles to make the shingles for the roof.

The branches are cut from a shimmery, black branch I found in the floral department at Michaels.

I'll be moving back to Tim Holtz dress forms this week. I'm doing some Christmas themed dress forms and am really looking forward to getting started on those. But I'm sure I'll squeeze a few more Halloween projects in between now and the end of October!
