A Haunted Shaped Mini-Album (My first project using Cricut Craft Room)

Hello!

I thought it was going to be a more productive weekend. Then my Gypsy died...AGAIN! Really not happy about that to say the least. I did get a swap finished before it kicked the bucket again but it did not help my plans for the weekend.

I decided to give Cricut Craft Room a try. I tried this a few months ago and while I was able to design, I wasn't able to cut (or print in the case of the Imagine). This weekend however....SUCCESS!!!!

Here is my first Cricut Craft Room creation.

It's a small album, only four pages and sized about 6" on the tallest page. I built my pages using Cricut Craft Room (CCR) and cut the pages from chipboard. CCR is kind of cool. It's much easier to move things around the mat and manipulate them. There aren't any new features, it kept all the same features to edit your images that are found in Design Studio and on the Gypsy. What is cool about CCR is that you can access it online from anywhere. I can sit at work, design a project and save it. When I get home I open the desktop application for CCR (which is free by the way), plug my Cricut into my laptop and cut away. The search function through CCR is much better and much more user friendly.  But back to the project....

I lightly edged all the pages with a siver Krylon leaf pen. Rather than push the end down to get the ink (I guess that's what it is) flowing I just used it with the little bit that stays wet at the end. This made the silver leaf go on in slim, kind of whispy lines.

The lettering on the front is shadowed in silver paper. The font is the bloody font on Happy Hauntings. The letters are attached to the front using pop dots. I just bought micro pop dots - they're rediculously tiny and perfect for small letters and layers.

On the fence I used Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. It gives the fence a kind of weathered look. The little cat is from a Recollections sticker set from a couple of years ago.

I added more of the Tim Holtz crackle paint on the tombstones. I covered the skull in glossy accents.

The ghosts are from a Recollections sticker set from this year. I love how the ghosts match the paper in their Halloween stack. I used that paper on the back of this page.

The bird is also covered in glossy accents.

For the house page, the chipboard base actually uses the interior layer. The layer for the exterior of the house is slightly bigger than the interior. In order to strengthen the paper for the house I cut it twice from black cardstock and cut the yellow interior once and sandwiched it between the two black pieces.

These little bats are from the same set as my ghosts from the prior page. They were the perfect size for the house. The edges of the house are also lightly edged with the sivler leaf pen.

On the back of the house page is space for a picture.

On the last page is the spooky tree from Happy Hauntings.  The tree is shadowed with orange and the tree is cut in dark brown. To darken it even more I inked the tree with Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink.

To darken the eyes I colored them with a red copic and the filled them with glossy accents.

The moon is edged with the sivler leaf pen more heavily and then randomly accented with silver leaf. The little stars are from the same Recollections sticker set as the ghosts and bats.

This cute little guy is from the Cricut Lite Hoot 'n Holler cartridge.

There you have it! This album is small but would be good to showcase a child's Halloween costume or some other small event. It could be displayed every year as a reminder. Thanks for looking!
